Law of Attraction (LOA) on the Web

Magnet IconI’ve been a firm believer of the Law of Attraction since I picked up the book “The Secret” four years ago.  It sounds silly to me to say I believe in the Law of Attraction, it’s like saying I believe in gravity.  Both of them are always working just one is more tangible than the other.

There are so many good books out there on LOA and living positively, I bet I could read a book a day and it would take years to get through them all. But where the LOA community fails (In my opinion) is on the web.  Every website I’ve visited lately, provides very little information, and is all about selling books or programs and are filled with other advertisements.  They are ugly, uninspiring and feel very prey-ish.  Even some of my favorite authors have similar terrible website styles.

I’ll admit it, I was first attracted to the LOA because of the idea attracting money to myself, but what I quickly realized was what I really wanted is peace, love, joy, harmony and happiness in my life.  And that is exactly what I’m attracting to myself now. I understand you need a gimmick to get peoples attention, but there is so much more to living a positive life, I wish those attributes were reflected better on the web, especially from some of the top promoters of the subject.

Ok, I’m done being negative, back to the positive side of the world!

Striving to Thrive

Day 8 of my 31 words in 31 days experiment!

Today’s Word: THRIVE

The word Thrive, makes me happy! I believe it’s the moment you are in your true-self! I think for a big portion of my life I didn’t thrive, but the minute I started to thrive, I immediately new it and strive to thrive everyday now!

So how do you thrive in your environment? Do you have to change jobs, or move to another state, get new friends? I thought all of that had to happen. But again after I read The Secret I realized I can thrive in any environment with the right frame of mind. I’m a true believer in the concept that “the Universe is conspiring for me”. With that simple change of my mind frame I started to thrive. My friendships intensified, my job intensified & and my creativity shocked me. Not all of it was positive but I believe the negative things that happened in my job were to show me my true-self!

Yesterday after doing a training session, I was told by a couple of people that I excel in this environment, but to be honest I don’t really like training people. I like to learn new things, not focus on the same old things, but I was grateful to know that I thrived in my circumstance regardless if it’s my calling or not.

If you don’t know if your thriving in your environment, just ask yourself “Do I feel alive”? If your going through the motions of life and your always on auto-pilot , then chances are you’re not thriving. So what can you do to make yourself thrive? I’m obviously not an expert, but I believe doing something new everyday, helps awaken your true-self. Start small, drive a different route to work, sit at a different table at lunch, or say “Hi” to every person who walks by. Just those simple changes will allow you live in the moment. The more you do it, the more your situations will begin to carve out your thriving environment. I know this sounds simple. But I think we make life way to complicated. Simplicity is where your true-self lives.

Peace, Love, Joy and Harmony

Thrive
–verb (used without object)
1. to prosper; be fortunate or successful.
2. to grow or develop vigorously; flourish: The children thrived in the country.

The Law of Attraction is Always Working

SunA common misconception of the Law of Attraction is that it’s about thinking positive thoughts; that is not necessarily true.  The Law of Attraction (LOA) works with ALL thoughts, whether they are positive or negative.  It doesn’t judge your vibrational message as positive or negative, it just accepts it for what it is and starts to align you with other things on that same vibration.  The more negative a thought pattern the more that pattern will show up in your life.

Since the LOA is reacting to your energy/vibrational message, the feelings you have associated with your thoughts can increase its energy.  Anger or Love will give that thought powerful energy and so does Joy or Sorrow.  When you start to learn how to use the LOA, you not only have to change the way you think about something but about how you feel about it as well.

To use the Law of Attraction to your benefit, start paying attention to your thoughts.  Your mind is thinking about 50,000 thoughts per day (kind of shocking) and there is no way you could control or be aware of that many (you shouldn’t even try), but try to notice a few of your thoughts; are they negative or positive in nature?  If they are negative, make a conscious effort to turn those negative thoughts into positive ones, even if at first you don’t believe the positive twist.

The Law of Attraction is always working!  You don’t have to know about the LOA for it to work. You don’t have to understand the law for it to work.  You don’t even have to consciously evoke it to make it work.  But it is working.  The Law of Attraction is always working!  So instead of fighting it or ignoring it….USE IT!

The Law of Attraction is pretty simple; whatever you put out to the universe the universe gives back to you.

  • Good Thoughts = Good Things
  • Bad Thoughts = Bad Things

Can it really be that simple? Yes and no.

  • Yes, if you’re a natural optimist and you have no worry or judgment in your life.
  • No, if you’re like the rest of us.  We can achieve everything an optimist can, but we have to really work at it!

How do you start with the Law of Attraction?

These are the steps I follow!

1) Pay Attention to your Thoughts

Notice your thoughts, are they negative?  Not just about what you want to attract in your life, but are your thoughts negative in general?  If they are negative, start to change them (Even if you don’t believe the positive thought… yet.).

Here are some examples:

Negative Thoughts Change to a Positive Thought
I’m so ugly I look exactly how I’m supposed to look and I love it!
I don’t have enough money to cover my bills I am attracting abundance right now.
My car is a piece of junk I am grateful to have a car
I’m so stupid Look at all that I’ve achieved in my life!

Start doing this on a daily basis, if you can’t change your thought to a positive thought, the other thing you can do is ask yourself “If this thought serving me”?  If the thought doesn’t help you move toward your goal, it’s time to remove that thought from your consciousness!

Having positive thoughts sets your intention to the universe.

2) Be Grateful for what you have!

Gratitude, Gratitude, Gratitude it’s all about Gratitude!

Be thankful for what you already have!  For a negative natured person, this can be difficult at first, but you do have a lot to be grateful for.

Be thankful you can read, if you can’t read, be thankful you can see, if you can’t see, be thankful for your other senses.  There is always something to give thanks for!

The more you become grateful for the things around you, the more peaceful your life becomes.  If you choose to do only 1 thing from this post, I strongly stress that you choose gratitude.  It will change your life!

A great way to add Gratitude into your life is to start a Gratitude Journal.  Start small at first; list 3 things a day you are grateful for.  As you get used to adding to your gratitude journal, increase the number of “Gratefuls”.  Whenever you’re feeling down or negative, look back at your journal and see all that you have written.  Try to remember how you felt when you wrote it.  Focusing on what is working well in your life will help bring new good things to you.

3) Ask for everyone

Some people think the Law of Attraction is a selfish way to live your life, but I think the Law of Attraction will not work if you are just focused on yourself.

So this step is simple, whatever you ask for yourself, ask it for everyone.

With the Law of Attraction, there is enough abundance of everything to go around.  So when you ask the universe to increase your profits for your business, ask it to increase the profits of all businesses that are in your situation.

When you get good at this step, you’ll start asking for things for people who annoy you.  You know you’ve come along way when that starts to happen.

4) Trust the Universe

Once you’ve set your intention, don’t sit around all day wondering where it is.  This creates negative thoughts.  If you’re wondering where your new boyfriend is, you’re telling the universe “I’ve decided to focus on not having him, so please don’t bring him around now”.

Set your intention; trust the universe received the message (and it did) and focus on something else, like gratitude or helping others.

Believe that the universe is not conspiring against you; the Universe is conspiring FOR you!

5) READ

There are a lot of books on Law of Attraction, but if your new to this idea, I have two reading suggestions for you:

  • The Secret – Rhonda Byrne (It was originally a movie, but I got more from the book)
  • Think and Grow Rich – Napoleon Hill (this book amazes me, it was published in 1937, long before “The Secret” craze!)

This post really just touches the surface on this law. To really use it to the fullest, get as informed as you can on the subject.  Reading about the Law of Attraction has opened up a whole new world to me that includes “conscious living”, Quantum Physics and much more.  Prepare to expand your world!
