Meditation Breakthrough?

Posted on 4th January 2011 by Theresa Enspir8ion in Meditation

It’s no secret that I’m not very good at mediating. I’ve been meditating for a couple of years now but I still find myself going through my To-Do list or rehashing a conversation, etc…. It’ not a pure moment that is for sure. Even though I’m not good at it, I enjoy it, I get a half-hour to myself and I feel refreshed afterwards, totally worth my time!

My New Years Resolution is to improve my meditation skills. I’ve been doing the same thing over and over again with the same results (isn’t that the definition of insanity?), so I decided today would be different and it was amazing!

Change #1

Set a goal.

I usually just meditate to clear my mind, but now I’m going to attach a goal to every meditation I do.

Today’s Goal – Clear mind to work on my start-up business tonight

I even put a pad of paper next to me so that I could start working right away.

Change #2

Go it alone!

Today I listened to beautiful sounds (Ocean waves & Tibetan Singing Bowls) instead of guided meditations.

Change #3

Sit down and palms up!

How simple! Instead of sitting with my back straight and feet on the floor, I sat how I wanted at that moment. Today it was with knees folded and open palms tomorrow it might be something else.

Change #4

Focus on something other than breathing

I don’t know about you, but when I focus on my breathing, I change my breathing and I get very uncomfortable. During today’s meditation I focused on the energy I could feel in my hands. I thought of it as a tether to Source (I hope I didn’t loose you on that one 😉 ).

So here it goes, I start my meditation and within a few minutes, my head was swirling with thoughts. I tried to quiet them but they kept coming and coming . Finally I realized all of these thoughts were about my new business venture. New ideas were flying at me at lightening speed. Names, new product ideas and details I never thought of before were rushing into my brain. It was awesome. I ended up interrupting my “meditation” a couple of times so that I could write down these ideas.

I don’t know if this qualifies as a “meditation” but it was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had while meditating! I can’t wait to do it again tomorrow!

Day 19 of my 31 words in 31 days experiment!

Today’s Word:  Harmony

Harmony is something I strive for everyday.  I don’t always hit it but I always try.  When I saw “Harmony” pop up on my calendar for Tuesday, I thought “piece of cake” and guess what it…it was!

Tuesday is a loooooonnnnngggg day for me.  I have standing meetings and family commitments that keep me hopping from morning to night.  I kind of dread Tuesdays, but I woke up in a fantastic mood, my meetings were great and my after-work activities went smoothly!  I was in complete harmony with my life.

It was a hectic day but being in harmony made the day enjoyable and kind of peaceful. I think every word I’ve had this month has been a word I can’t live without experiencing once a day, but probably no more so than “Harmony”.  Living in Harmony is living in peace, in love and happiness.  It’s a great state to be in and something I will continue to strive for everyday!

Wherefore art thou Energy?

Day 14 of my 31 words in 31 days experiment!

Today’s Word:  ENERGY

I’m one of those weird people who know everything is energy, from the couch I’m sitting on to the dog laying next to me, everything on this earth is energy.  In my mind everything is alive with energy!

Energy also affects Energy so I try to keep the energy around me positive. I don’t watch the news, I stay away from negative people, I try to stay conscious of my thoughts and I’m a vegetarian because I don’t want to take on the energy of the killed animal.

So here I am naturally tuned into energy but on the day I’m supposed to focus on it I really don’t feel it!  I had a great day, I laughed a lot, the weather was awesome, I got a lot done, etc… But nothing really felt energetic or stuck out at me as an “energy” moment.  Maybe I’m so tuned in, it’s like the air and I just know it’s there.

Since the day isn’t over yet, I’m going to focus on the energy around me and see if anything amazing happens. Stay tuned…..(Vibrational pun intended :-D)

Tranquility Found!

Day 11 of my 31 words in 31 days experiment!

Fall DayToday’s Word: TRANQUIL

Today has been incredibly stressful. A typical Monday, I guess, but I usually don’t have “Monday’s”. I don’t believe in the curse of “Monday” but today did seemed cursed. From an employee not doing his assignment correctly to me still feeling like crap, today seemed doomed.

I programmed my daily words into my calendar on 10/1 and I don’t remember what they are. The night before around 10:00 p.m., I get an alert on my phone letting me know what tomorrow’s word is going to be. I was so excited when I saw the word “Tranquil”! Boy do I need a tranquil day. I went to bed last night focused on the word, but my Fibromyalgia kept interrupting my tranquil focus with shooting pains. Ugh!

When I got up this morning I was still focused on having a tranquil day. Everything went smoothly until I got to work and checked my e-mail. One of my staff members made a huge mistake. Thankfully I was able to correct it fairly quickly and not too many people noticed it, but I let that moment dictate how the rest of my day went. It ended up being a very stressful day. I came home and planned on not doing anything but vegging on the couch with the dog and then it hit me!….

…I can’t find Tranquility on my job! It’s not my calling (although I thought it was for years). This year a lot of stuff happened and I came to the realization that this work does not make me happy. Yet I keep trying to make it fit into my life’s calling and it just doesn’t fit. With that thought, I jumped off the couch and started to work on two start-up business ideas I have. And voila, I feel tranquil.

Tranquility is always there you just have to remember to match its frequency to find it! I’m so glad I found it and salvaged my day!

Day 10 of my 31 words in 31 days experiment!

Today’s Word: CREATIVE

By nature I’m a creative person. My career is creative, most of my free time is spent doing something creative, and creativity is usually what fuels me. But today I feel like crap and didn’t really do anything let alone anything creative.

Maybe this is the universe’s way of saying “you have enough creative outlets in your life and you don’t need to focus anymore time on it.” I find it interesting that the word I relate to most, brought no energy to my life today. Uhm. Maybe I need to reflect on that a little more. I’m sure there are a ton of areas in my life that deserve a little more attention. Maybe I need to focus less on creating and more on nurturing or cultivating other facets of my life. Interesting. I have a lot to think about tonight!

Peace, Love, Joy and Harmony

2. resulting from originality of thought, expression, etc.; imaginative: creative writing.
3. originative; productive (usually fol. by of ).
4. Facetious . using or creating exaggerated or skewed data, information, etc.: creative bookkeeping.

To Forgive is Divine!

Day 4 of my 31 words in 31 days experiment!

Today’s Word:  FORGIVE

Ugh! One of my least favorite words.  It is such a complicated topic for me.  I know the only way to happiness is to forgive and not hold on to issues, but that is easier said than done…

I have a terrible relationship with my Dad, and when I realized it wasn’t going to get any better I decided to stop being in contact with him.  Over the past few years, all of the anger I had at my Dad is gone and I’d describe this feeling as forgiveness, but I still don’t want him in my life.  Is that forgiveness or am I just coping so that I can move on?  If I truly forgave him, shouldn’t I want him in my life?

My day has been focused mostly on this issue and I haven’t figured out the answer.    I’ve been hoping for some illuminating message to guide me through this situation but so far it’s just me with my thoughts.  I did get in some productive time today, forgiving  (& releasing) myself from all the dumb things I’ve done over the years and forgiving those who have “wronged” me.  But as far as my Dad goes I’m exactly where I was when this day started.  Ugh!

So as this day concludes I’ll spend some time meditating and try to figure out why I still have the “Dad-Door” cracked opened.  Maybe I need to forgive myself for moving on…hmmm I might be on to something 😀

New Project – 31 Words in 31 Days

Today I’m starting a new project.  Everyday this month I’m going to focus on a positive word.  It’s kind of an experiment.  I have felt myself going in a very negative direction; from work, to friends; to my family, I’m just not myself.  So this experiment is see if I can shift my energy by using the power of words.

Venice Window

A window in Venice, Italy

As a creative person, I think inspiration is everywhere but lately I haven’t been noticing anything I’d classify as “inspiring”.  So to get me out of this funk, I pulled out my photos from Italy.  These don’t always inspire me, but they make me happy.  As I was going through them, I realized I haven’t taken any beautiful pictures lately.  So I grabbed a few of my favorite photos hung them in my office and went on with my day.

Later in the morning, I had to run an errand in another building and during my walk I was noticing all of these picture perfect moments.  The way the sun was shining through the trees, a squirrel watching me from behind a rock, a late-blooming flower, inspiration was everywhere!  It didn’t matter that I didn’t have my camera with me.  I was so happy I was seeing all of these wonderful things.  Now, most of these things were there yesterday when I took the same walk, but today I noticed them!  I wanted inspiration to come to me but what I really needed was to open my eyes to the inspirational world around me.  Inspiration is everywhere!

1-Minute Happiness Break

Posted on 2nd July 2010 by EnSpir8ion in Energy |Positive Thoughts

, ,

If you’re feeling sad, angry, lost, confused or any other feeling that brings about negative energy ask yourself this; “Is that energy serving me in a constructive way?” If the answer is no, then choose to be happy, even if it is just for a minute.

The next time you are consumed with a negative emotion.

  • Take a moment and think of one thing that is going right in your life.  If you’re like me (the old me) and enjoy a good pity party every now and then, this may be hard to do at first, but eventually remembering the good things in life will be easier.
  • Hold that positive happy thought in your mind for a full minute.
  • Make sure you smile during this minute.  It sounds weird but it works.
  • When the minute is up, go back to your negative emotion or continue being happy, the choice is yours.  The choice is always yours!

Prepare for a Negative Moment:

I don’t like to wallow in the negative anymore but I do know that I will have negative experiences every now and then.  To combat them I’ve prepared things to help me if I need to take a happiness break:

Before you’re in a crisis:

Make a list of 25 or more things that you Love in your life.
Keep the list handy, or memorize the top 5.
My list includes: Family, friends, my dog, the color pink, chocolate, etc…

Surround yourself with things that make you happy
Pictures of your loved ones (don’t forget the furry ones), favorite music, bright colors, etc…  Have them in your home, at work, and anywhere else you spend a lot of time.  This will serve as a reminder of your true joyous life, not just in a crisis but all the time.

When you’re having a happy moment, make a mental note
I discovered this trick on vacation in Turkey.  I was in awe of all that surrounded me; and I said to myself “if you ever have a bad day again, remember this moment”.  After I said that, I took mental notes of everything, the sights, the sounds, the smells, how I was feeling.  I can now transport myself to the coast of Turkey in a matter of seconds and experience it all over again.  Heck, that experience was so amazing; I summon it even when I’m not having a bad day!

This exercise isn’t meant for you to bury your head in the sand and ignore what is happening in your life.  It’s intended to give you a mental break and serve as a reminder that life is about good times as well as bad.  I believe most negative emotions come from a feeling of losing control or hopelessness and this exercise say’s “Hey wait a minute I’m in control of my life” It puts you back in the driver’s seat where you belong.

The Law of Attraction is Always Working

Posted on 30th June 2010 by EnSpir8ion in Energy |Law of Attraction |Positive Thoughts

, ,

SunA common misconception of the Law of Attraction is that it’s about thinking positive thoughts; that is not necessarily true.  The Law of Attraction (LOA) works with ALL thoughts, whether they are positive or negative.  It doesn’t judge your vibrational message as positive or negative, it just accepts it for what it is and starts to align you with other things on that same vibration.  The more negative a thought pattern the more that pattern will show up in your life.

Since the LOA is reacting to your energy/vibrational message, the feelings you have associated with your thoughts can increase its energy.  Anger or Love will give that thought powerful energy and so does Joy or Sorrow.  When you start to learn how to use the LOA, you not only have to change the way you think about something but about how you feel about it as well.

To use the Law of Attraction to your benefit, start paying attention to your thoughts.  Your mind is thinking about 50,000 thoughts per day (kind of shocking) and there is no way you could control or be aware of that many (you shouldn’t even try), but try to notice a few of your thoughts; are they negative or positive in nature?  If they are negative, make a conscious effort to turn those negative thoughts into positive ones, even if at first you don’t believe the positive twist.

The Law of Attraction is always working!  You don’t have to know about the LOA for it to work. You don’t have to understand the law for it to work.  You don’t even have to consciously evoke it to make it work.  But it is working.  The Law of Attraction is always working!  So instead of fighting it or ignoring it….USE IT!

Beauty in Gratitude

Do you notice your surroundings; I mean really notice what is going around you?

If you live your life in gratitude, you will!

ButterflyFor the majority of my life I walked around oblivious to what was happening around me.  I didn’t look at clouds, flowers or even people walking by. But when I started to change the way I thought about life and started being grateful for what I had, the world around me became beautiful!  The annoying Geese who pooped all over the sidewalk at work, became gorgeous!  Seeing the sunrise on a weekday morning was such a blessing and now I see butterflies all the time.

These things were always around me but I’m finally in a place where I can appreciate them for just “being”.  When the world around me starts to become invisible or worse “ugly”, it’s the best indicator that I’m not aligned with a grateful energy and I need to change my thoughts!   As soon as I do, the beauty of the world is again in my scope.

My favorite beautiful moment came right in the beginning of my life transformation.  I was walking from my car into work and a deer came from nowhere and ran right in front of me.  I could have reached out and touched him.  Where I live, you see deer all the time, but they always runaway when they see you.  To have one run in my direction and have such a peaceful energy about him, it was beautiful.  Now if this had happened to my old-self, this story would have been about “The Day a Deer Tried to Kill Me”. But now that I am grateful for the simplest things I can enjoy and see the beauty in everything!  It’s a great way to live!

Peace, Love, Joy and Harmony!
